In August 2014, the Conservation District purchased a 10-foot John Deere 1590 No-Till Drill with grant funds received through the PA Department of Environmental Protection’s Chesapeake Bay Program, and began renting the drill out to interested farmers in Fulton County. The program has proven successful, and the drill was replaced in 2018 and again in 2021.

The purpose of this rental program is to encourage and assist farmers with implementing a no-till crop production system including cover crops.  The District provides an affordable, well-maintained no-till drill for rent, as well as service and technical assistance to farmers wanting to use the equipment or give no-till a try.

The drill is available on a first-call, first-served basis and is delivered to you.  The cost to rent the drill is $25 per day plus $12 per acre planted.  The rental agreement and drill manual are linked below.  Contact our Ag Program Assistant, Isaac Strait, for availability and scheduling at 717-325-6087.
