The Conservation District works closely with municipalities through the Dirt, Gravel Road and Low Volume Road (DGLVR) Maintenance Program to improve road drainage, reduce erosion, and prevent sediment from reaching local streams. District staff provide technical assistance, help township officials identify problem areas, develop practical solutions, and administer grant funding to help cover the cost of eligible road improvements. This partnership allows municipalities to address road maintenance needs while protecting local waterways and improving the long-term performance of their roads. The Chapter 102 Program helps protect Fulton County’s streams and waterways by requiring proper erosion and sedimentation controls on earth-disturbing activities, such as road improvements, construction, and development. For municipalities, this means ensuring projects meet Pennsylvania’s erosion and sediment control requirements and may involve coordination with the Conservation District during the planning, permitting, and inspection process. These requirements help prevent costly erosion, protect infrastructure, and keep sediment out of local waterways. Click the link below for more information.
