One of the best ways for the Conservation District to ensure the continued, wise use of our natural resources is to educate people.  The Conservation District’s Environmental Education Specialist, Greg Reineke, offers environmental education programs to a wide variety of target audiences including township officials, school students, farmers and the general public.  The Conservation District strongly believes that education plays a crucial role in protecting local water quality and in improving the health of the Chesapeake Bay.

The District’s Environmental Education Specialist coordinates the annual Envirothon competition (see link below for more information) and serves as an associate member on the State Envirothon Board.  The Specialist also conducts trainings for teachers and assists school districts in writing grants to support their own environmental education efforts.  Most importantly, the Specialist can provide environmental programming to students of all grade levels.  The Specialist also provides environmental awareness to adults through presentations, field days, workshops and special trainings.
