Pigeon Cove Dairy Farm

In July of 2010, the Fulton County Conservation District sponsored and was awarded a grant from the Pennsylavnia Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST) to complete a project on Pigeon Cove Dairy Farm in Bethel Township.  The following agricultural Best Management Practices (BMPs) will be constructed to reduce sediment and nutrient runoff into Cove Creek:

  1. 1.8 million gallon lined and covered manure storage lagoon to increase storage capactiy from 4 months to 8 months.
  2. Manure handling and separation facilities measuring 40'x36' with an 18'x10' agitation pit.
  3. 250 feet of manure collection and transfer gutters.
  4. 2,500 square foot concrete barnyard to reduce barnyard runoff. 
  5. Stormwater diversion and improvements throughout all of the existing facilities.
